Share Aware campaign
To kids, online life is real life. And, just like in real life, kids need help to stay safe online.
Share Aware is an NSPCC and O2 campaign to help parents have regular and informed conversations with their child about online safety. We're aiming to get every family in the UK chatting about their kids' online world, just like they would about their day at school.
We tell children that’s it’s good to share, but online it’s different and sometimes it can be dangerous. Through our straight-forward, step-by-step advice and Icebreaker email series, we’ll show parents how to untangle the web and teach children how to make the right decisions online, even when parents aren’t there.

Safer Internet Day- Tuesday 11th February 2020
Digital Kids Show
Year 6 had a fantastic time at the Digital Roadshow on Monday 20th November which was held at Event City. They learned all about staying safe on the Internet, coding techniques and advances in gaming. They also met the stars of Educating Manchester: Jack, Rani and Mr Povey who were lovely!
Online Safety Day
Our Enrichment days this year are on the theme ‘Safe and Sound’ and on Friday 20th October, we held the first of these days, which focused on ‘Online Safety’. Throughout the day we helped the children to understand more about the digital world that they live in and how to stay safe within it. Some of the storybooks that we used throughout the day included:
Many parents nowadays are unable to keep up with how quickly technology is changing and we felt that it was important to also provide something for our parents, so we invited them to join us in the afternoon, for a workshop to learn all about how they could keep their child safe online.
The hour-long workshop delivered by O2 and the NSPCC was a great opportunity for parents to gain skills and knowledge, to understand the internet and technology as children do – from online games and cyber bullying, through to setting up privacy settings and controls – and to help them have the right conversations with their child/ren.
We were delighted to see so many parents attend the event and take away some valuable information.
Barney and Echo Internet Safety Roadshow- Wigan
On Thursday 20th October, four Year 6 School Council children attended an Online Safety event at DW Stadium in Wigan. They took part in activities and listened to presentations from the Police and other online safety experts. These children are now our Online Safety Warriors and there will be a dedicated worship after half-term to share the information they found out.
CHATFOSS Online Safety App
The BBC were in school on Monday 21st March to film the launch of a new Online Safety App, which we are piloting in school called CHATFOSS. If you missed it here is the report from BBC Northwest news. All the children in Key Stage 2 now have log-in details and passwords to access ChatFOSS. Thank you to all the junior parents/carers who attended the Online Safety meeting after school.
