Road Safety Advice
Here are 10 quick tips to help you stay safe when crossing the road:
- Always use the Green Cross Code
- Remember certain places are dangerous places to cross on local roads – including bends, junctions.
- Use pedestrian crossings even if it means walking a little further
- Do not cross between parked cars
- Check that no cars are about to move off
- Never cross the road near large vehicles as you may be in a driver’s blind spot
- Don’t use your mobile phone when crossing
- Wear bright colours and/or reflective clothing when lighting is poor
- Ensure you walk on the inside of the pavement, with an adult nearest the road
- If you can use zebra crossings and traffic islands
